SIMS rider Seth Hill has recently partnered up with POW (Protect Our Winters) as part of their Riders Alliance program. Protect Our Winters is the environmental center point of the winter sports community, united towards a common goal of reducing climate change's effects on our sport and local mountain communities. POW believes that to really effect things, consumer behavior needs to change and that the power of an actively participating and united community can have a direct influence on climate change, now and for generations behind us.
“So pumped to be working with such an amazing organization, on such an important cause,” Hill said. “There are so many ways to help the sport and industry we love so much, I can't believe such a simple and important thing as our climate hasn't been on more people's minds. I can't wait to see how much good POW can do. The first step is knowledge and understanding. So I hope everyone will check out POW and do your part!”

We all know that the best snow this time of year is down in the Southern Hemisphere. Well, Bryan Daino headed all the way down to New Zealand to train, and sent us up a few choice pictures!

The Sims sponsored camp at Woodward at Copper was a huge success! Sims team rider, Bryan Daino, kept 116 campers in check with marshmallow eating contests, go kart races and the occasional snowboarding tip. The campers sessioned in the barn part of the day and out on the hill the rest of the day translating what they learned in the foam pits and on the trampolines on to actual snow. Adrenaline filled campers battled it out to win tons of Sims swag and snowboards. Thanks again to the awesome Woodward crew for another great camp and a big thanks to Bryan Daino for making it happen!!
Got a summer update from Gaetan today, looks like he's taking a break from sledding to ride his mountain bike in Whistler. Gotta launch off something, right?

Sims and SOS Outreach strapped in again this weekend, taking 45 students from the Mapleton Expeditionary School of the Arts in Thornton up to Loveland, CO. The goal of the collaboration was to give the students a chance to experience a supportive environment outside of the difficult one they have become accustomed to over time.
Not only did Sims team athletes and employees volunteer their time to ride with and encourage the kids they also donated 30 new snowboards to the program. SOS Outreach aims to instill its core values of courage, discipline, integrity, wisdom and compassion in students while teaching them how to snowboard responsibly.

Late last season, in hopes of finding new terrain and lots of pow, the Sims crew headed down to Crested Butte, Colorado to shoot the 10/11 ad campaign. Three full days were spent in the backcountry hitting natural features that were only accessible by snowmobile. The last three days of the shoot were spent on hill at a closed to the public Crested Butte riding pipe, park and a special hip build. The mountains provided a beautiful backdrop while the snow continued to dump and the riders stomped landings in order to get the shot. The images were once again captured by Snowboarder Magazine’s Senior Photographer, Aaron Dodds and footage was shot by Justin Gunson.
But the fun really didn’t get started ‘til late night when pants would come off and the posing would begin in front of the white seamless backdrop. You just never know what you are going to get when you mix PBR, a handle of Jack and taxidermy animals. Here is a sneak peek…come back this fall to see all the debauchery.

Sims Canadian backcountry shredder Gaetan Chanut is still locking down covers in his 30’s! Playboard, Germany’s largest snowboard magazine, has honored Gaetan with the February-March cover featuring his sick gap through the Stooges down in Silverton, Co. The photo was taken last April by Aaron Dodds, senior photographer at Snowboarder Magazine.
Tom Sims and team rider Steve Fisher were interviewed this past weekend at the Winter X Games 14 by Plum TV. Tom and Steve talked about the history of snowboarding as well as the recent progression of the sport. With Tom watching from the deck of the pipe Fisher took 6th place in the Superpipe finals riding his signature pro model Sims board.
This month's issue of Snowboarder Mag features epic imagery of Sims riders launching insane air. We picked up our copies with plans for some intellectual after-dinner reading in our private study, possibly with some congac and fine stogies; after which we will discuss it's implications in modern society. Or, you know, we'll just say they are super gnarly.

Sims is excited to announce Olympic silver medalist, Lindsey Jacobellis, as the newest member of the Sims snowboard team! Jacobellis is a seven time medalist at the Winter X Games (five of them being gold) as well as a World Cup Boardercross Champion. This Stratton, Vermont resident has been in competitive snowboarding since the age of ten and is out to make an impact in the snowboarding world. Jacobellis has claimed numerous, prestigious titles including; Jeep King of the Mountain Snowboard Champion (2007), Best Athlete at Winter X Games (2005), Chevrolet US Grand Prix Halfpipe Series Champion (2005) and many more. Jacobellis will be representing the Sims brand alongside fellow shredders Colin Langlois, Gaetan Chanut, Erich Dummer and two time Winter X Games gold medalist, Steve Fisher.
Steve Fisher placed 2nd in the men’s superpipe finals at the second stop of the Winter Dew Tour in Mt. Snow this past weekend. Fisher raised the bar high on his first run, spinning all the way down the pipe throwing back-to-back 7s, back-to-back 9s, a 1080 and a cab 9. His resulting score of 92.75 put the pressure on all the other riders. Everyone had a tough time overcoming Fisher's strong standing except for Shaun White who snatched the lead on his second run. U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix, the first major competition of the season, hit Copper this past weekend. Heavy hitters from around the world flocked to Colorado not only for the comp, but because Colorado has some of the best snow in the world right now. Fisher rode really strong through qualifiers and into the finals only to be beaten by Louie Vito.
Fisher will be competing again this up coming weekend at Breckenridge for the first stop of the Winter Dew Tour. Prelims are on Saturday from 11 to 1 and finals are on Sunday from 11 to 1. Check out the action on NBC, Fisher has his front 10’s on lockdown!
